This is a short drawing tutorial on paper using hatching technique with a 4B graphite pencil. In this video I am darkening the background using a layered approach to increase my values. It's better to use the hatching technique and make many passes in layers to get your values darker, as I usually go from light to dark on paper. I also briefly show how I use a kneaded eraser to fix some small areas as I redraw them. The reason for making a dark background is to create a more interesting drawing by showing strong contrasting between the dark background and the female subject.

Hatching technique is simply making short, rapid strokes that are very tightly grouped and also requires to use the same light, consistent pressure when applying with pencils.
